Youngster fighting brain cancer makes Little League all-star team

Around Halloween last year, 12 year-old Gage Ireland had a headache so severe, his mom and dad took him to the hospital. The diagnosis was every parent’s nightmare. Gage had a massive brain tumor that needed to be removed. In less than 24 hours he underwent surgery and that, and his subsequent treatment led to a loss of thirty pounds and all of his hair – but not his love for baseball. Gage continued to excel on the diamond in the San Dimas Little League, even earning a spot on the league’s all-star team. You can see the KCAL9 story here. The good news is doctors give Gage a 90% chance of never having a return of his cancer after he completes his treatment. Way to go, Gage! We’re pulling for you on and off the field!
