Apparently that’s what nearly one in four British children believe, this according to a story published in the Daily Times. These findings were released by the Youth Sport Trust Charity. The charity conducted a survey by contacting 1,000 children who were aged 5 to 16. Nearly one-quarter of the children in the survey classified playing a video game with a friend as a form of sport or exercise. Even more shocking is that the percentage rose to 31 percent among seven and eight year old children.
This surprising news has been brought to our attention by our partner, PHIT America.org, which is combating the inactivity pandemic through a series of grants and initiatives. We urge you to support PHIT America financially and in your local community. And even if it is only getting our own kids outside and active, that’s a great start.
